Overview Lotus Redcap was the leader of a gnomish community located in the southern polar region of the water world Karpri. The gnomes were the survivors of a spelljammer crash, and had tried to shelter from the arctic conditions in the remnants of their sidewheeler.

Lotus Redcap was the leader of a gnomish community located in the southern polar region of the water world Karpri. The gnomes were the survivors of a spelljammer crash, and had tried to shelter from the arctic conditions in the remnants of their sidewheeler. However, they would have eventually succumbed to starvation or predation by the many predators that inhabited the region if it weren't for Lotus. She and her husband, Darnell, had convinced the other survivors to tunnel down into the pack ice, and eventually they discovered a type of edible algae that thrived in the frozen wastes if there was sufficient light and carbon dioxide. Using torches of continual fire, Lotus and her people established subterranean farms in tunnels beneath the ice, ensuring their survival - apart from the occasional hungry predator of course.
Description
Lotus was a small, round gnomish woman with deep red cheeks, who always wore a small red cap that fitted tightly over her scalp, keeping her head warm in the biting cold. Lotus was a priestess but reserved her healing spells for her own people.

Lotus was married to Danell, and they were both instrumental in convincing the other gnomes to begin digging below the pack ice in search of food and shelter. However, when the gnomes discovered the bland, rubbery but above all else edible algae, they saw this as a sign of divine intervention, and believing Lotus to be the source of their god's blessing, immediately acclaimed her as the leader of their community. Danell, being relegated somewhat into the background, suffered pangs of jealousy on occasion, though their union remained strong on the whole.
