Overview

Sarelk the Sage was a powerful and greatly respected mage who was known throughout the Known Spheres. He was also responsible for the creation of the terrifying marauder known as the Batship some 900 years ago.

Description

"Everything, in time, degenerates. Magic is not exempt. I don't know how, and and I don't know why. It is just a law that applies to everything and everyone. This is why I don't believe in immortality."

Sarelk was a powerful human mage who was born over a thousand years ago. He was originally from a distant sphere located in a region of space where the phlogiston was so thin that it was barely visible, making travel through the Flow incredibly slow and difficult.

Activities

"Every hour of every day is a fight for survival. No man nor woman is exempt, and only the strong survive. Combat is no different; it's just a great deal more noisy."

Sarelk maintained a large facility that floated in orbit above the planet H'Catha in Realmspace. Resembling a cylindrical tower slowly spinning end-over-end like a baton, Sarelk used the facility as a laboratory where he could design, build and test various powerful and exceedingly dangerous devices. His primary goal was to design a device powerful enough to disable the Batship without harming the woman at the helm. Due to the destruction wrought by the Batship, which he designed and built all those many years ago, Sarelk had become rather paranoid about any of his devices ending up in the wrong hands and had put in place a number of measures to prevent this from happening.

Family

Sarelk was married to the Astral mage, Burnayette Skyansdanya. When he built the Batship over 900 years ago, Burnayette was the first one to enter the vessel's specially designed box-helm. When she discovered that she couldn't escape the "helmbox", she panicked and fled in the Batship, leaving her home sphere behind. Sarel has followed them ever since in the hopes of one day freeing his wife from her prison.
