History
Founding of the Bank
The first branch of the bank was founded by the ambitious Amadeus Cianfanelli when King Dezmod was still a snot-nosed brat. He did not stop at one branch and soon established locations in Kovir, Nazair, and even Zerrikania. His approach to customer service and handling their coin earned the bank significant renown.
Further Expansion
Due to the success of the already established branches, more were opened, including those in Beauclair, Kaer Trolde, Ellander, and Novigrad. Most of their clientele were mages and monarchs, such as Foltest and Vizimir II, although the latter category tended to borrow more money than they deposited. Because of the city's economic importance, the Novigrad branch became the bank's main headquarters.
Later Transactions
At some point, likely after the First Northern War, the mage Istredd came to the Novigrad branch on behalf of the Chapter to request coin. Unfortunately, due to Scoia'tael attacks, the bank mail en route from Gors Velen went missing. Nevertheless, a promissory note was issued, with the funds to be raised from the Chapter's stock market locations' turnover plus interest, with the money to be directed to the Ban Ard Academy.
In June 1267, Molnar Giancardi transferred 1,500 orens from his bank at Yennefer of Vengerberg's request to the Cianfanelli Bank in Ellander to fund Ciri's tuition at the Temple of Melitele. When Geralt of Rivia stayed in Toussaint, he opened an account at the Cianfanelli Bank there to deposit his earnings from contracts.
In 1276, the Beauclair branch faced financial trouble as wine sales from the duchy had declined. Giacomo Cianfanelli theorized that this was due to the wine names being too difficult for people outside the duchy to pronounce. Around this time, Geralt returned to withdraw some coin from his account, leading to complications since the account had been closed after he had been declared dead. While still enjoying a good reputation, the bank had become burdened with bureaucracy, causing some people trouble in navigating the paperwork.

Trivia
- In Blood and Wine, in the Paperchase quest, obtaining Permit A38 to withdraw money, is a reference to the Asterix cartoon "The Twelve Tasks of Asterix", in which French bureaucracy red tape is satirized.
