History

Originally an Aen Seidhe tower much like Tor Lara or Tor Gvalch'ca, it was likely conquered or abandoned after Nordling settlers baptised the newly-born northern duchies in elven blood. Humans expanded the tower into a fortress and built the duchy of Carnedd around it, which would eventually become an important vassal of Redania.

Following the duchy's devastation during Falka's rebellion, the region was handed over by Vizimir I to Guido Thyssen in gratitude for the latter's help in extinguishing the revolt. Margrave Guido in turn invited Knights of the Golden Stirrup to the area around Tor Carnedd. Order Knights expanded the fortress, provided the safety on the new border, and encouraged a demographic growth by bringing settlers from the south.

Notes

  • Carnedd, Welsh for cairn, is a human-made pile of stones erected for various purposes. Tor Carnedd could hence mean The Rockpile Tower in Elder Speech.
