At the beginning of June 1245, it was the third settlement in the area, after Yew Trees and Arches, to be mysteriously attacked, resulting in 15 people being killed. However, as charcoal burner jobs were lucrative and paid well, a month later the settlement was back in full swing, despite what happened to the previous workers. Around this time, Geralt also visited with Algernon Guincamp to try and hunt down the cause of the murders.
