Helm Rift was one of the many rifts within Anauroch in the Plain of Standing Stones. It was located east of Dry Rift and the isolated peak known as the Tail.

The River of Gems ran from the southern edge of the High Ice , an area known as the Ice Wall, south through the Plain of Standing Stones to a large sinkhole known as the Throat . The river itself was located at the bottom of a deep, gemstone -studded gorge.
