The Duke's Gate is a monument to diplomacy and prestige. While other gates are built to repel orcs or tax grain, this gate is built to impress foreign royalty. This is the Diplomatic Portal of the Flanaess. It is the primary entrance for the nobility of the Duchy of Urnst, high-ranking ambassadors from the Kingdom of Furyondy, and the wealthy landowners of the northern estates. It is a strictly restricted gate; while technically open to the public, the High Quarter Guard is notorious for 'redirecting' mercenaries, laborers, and shabbily dressed adventurers toward the Highway or Marsh Gates to maintain the 'quality' of the district.
