The Old Mill

Building Greyhawk Greyhawk

Situated on a rocky outcropping where the river current is strongest, the Old Mill is a massive, four-story tower of weathered grey stone and iron-reinforced timber. Its enormous waterwheel, stained dark by algae and centuries of use, churns tirelessly against the rushing water.

Situated on a rocky outcropping where the river current is strongest, the Old Mill is a massive, four-story tower of weathered grey stone and iron-reinforced timber. Its enormous waterwheel, stained dark by algae and centuries of use, churns tirelessly against the rushing water. While it still functions as a high-capacity flour mill for the city's bakeries, its role has expanded over the decades. The lower levels house heavy grinding stones, while the upper floors have been converted into a specialized workshop for the Guild of Carpenters and Wheelwrights. The mechanical energy of the great wheel is harnessed via a complex system of gears and leather belts to power saws, lathes, and even a small experimental trip-hammer used for shaping river-barge fittings.
