The Roc & Oliphant Tavern

The Roc & Oliphant is the primary social and logistical hub for the working class and the shadow class of the Old City. It serves as a high-capacity taproom, a source of cheap lodging, and an unofficial hiring hall for laborers, porters, and low-level mercenaries. The tavern features a cavernous common room with a central fire pit where whole goats are often roasted on a spit. This is a massive, ramshackle building that looks as if it has been haphazardly expanded over centuries. Constructed of dark, soot-stained timbers and rough river stone, it is famous for its unique structural features: a pair of enormous, weather-beaten masts from an ancient ship that support its sagging roofline.
