The Whistling Fish is the primary social hub for travelers, sailors, and expatriates who find the Blue Dragon Inn too rowdy and the Silver Garter too expensive. It offers clean, affordable rooms, a massive communal hearth, and a kitchen famous for its River-Stew—a spicy concoction of local fish, imported Baklunish peppers, and Nyrondese tubers. This is a sprawling, four-story tavern and inn constructed from the repurposed timbers of old merchant cogs and dark river-stone. Its most famous feature is a massive, verdigris-covered bronze fish hanging over the door; when the wind blows from the north off the Selintan River, the hollow sculpture emits a series of high-pitched, melodic whistles that can be heard streets away.
