The Barge Inn is a Specialized Boarding House and Tavern catering specifically to the Barge-Masters—the captains and owners of the large river-haulers. It offers a high level of comfort and security, providing private meeting rooms where freight contracts and shipping manifests are negotiated. This is a large, low-slung two-story building constructed from dark, water-resistant timbers and grey fieldstone. The exterior is reinforced with thick oak pilings at the corners, and the ground floor is built high on a stone plinth to protect against seasonal flooding from the Selintan. The entrance is a wide, double-arched doorway made of iron-banded pine.
