The Sanctum is the headquarters for the Order of the Shining Sword within Greyhawk. It serves as a high-level military academy, a sanctuary for paladins, and a divine armory. The lower levels contain the Halls of Strategy, where veteran knights and city commanders use enchanted sand-tables to simulate defenses against the threats of the Iuz or the Great Kingdom. This is a formidable fortress-cathedral built from polished blue-grey basalt and reinforced with silver-steel banding. The main entrance is a massive set of bronze double doors, embossed with the Great Lightning Bolt symbol of the Archpaladin.
