Gobayuik's Undertakers is the primary Mortuary and Embalming House for the River Quarter. It serves the district's diverse population, handling everything from the 'unclaimed' bodies of drowned sailors to the more elaborate funeral arrangements for wealthy merchant families who reside near the High Quarter boundary. This is a somber, two-story stone and timber building characterized by its unusually narrow profile and deep, recessed windows. The exterior is intentionally understated, with a single, heavy door of blackened wood. A small, discreet sign hangs above the entrance, depicting a stylized shroud and a guttering candle. The ground floor is partially sunken into the earth, providing a cool, damp environment suitable for its primary trade.
