Houses of Kraghammer

The Houses of Kraghammer are the five ruling families whose bloodlines founded the subterranean city-state of Kraghammer.

History

The fortified, subterranean city-state of Kraghammer was carved out of the bedrock of the Cliffkeep Mountains in the years following the Divergence. It is the ancestral home of the native dwarves of Tal'Dorei, and the five major bloodlines that founded the city in ages past still rule to this day. The ruling families are Houses Greyspine, Zuurthom, Bronzegrip, Thunderbrand, and Glorendar.

Though the culture of Kraghammer is highly traditional and as stoic as the stone it was carved from, it is not without unrest. Every dwarven generation has its own great social movement where disenfranchised workers or greedy, lesser noble houses attempt to unseat the ruling five. Yet for good or for bad, the Great Houses have time and time again shown that they can put aside their differences to preserve their mutual rulership.

The Houses of Kraghammer facilitate a healthy trade in metals, weapons, and armor with Emon and Westruun. These bonds of commerce and communication grew stronger after Drake Thunderbrand took a seat on the Tal'Dorei Council.

Positions

Every ten years the Great Houses elect an Ironkeeper, to serve as a representative and to maintain their alliances.

• House Greyspine: Maintaining the largest mine under Kraghammer as well as the Pools of Solace.
• House Zuurthom: Training the chief architects and organizing the masonry and building of the city.
• House Bronzegrip: Maintaining the Bronzegrip Metalworks, Kraghammer’s largest blast furnace and ore refinery.
• House Thunderbrand: Training scholars and premiere arcanists.
• House Glorendar: Maintaining the law and delivering punishment.

  • Gradim Greyspine: Former Ironkeeper for three consecutive 10-year terms, between 787 PD and 817 PD.
  • Nostoc Greyspine: Head of the Greyspine mining operation and foundries.
• House Zuurthom
  • Palluda Zuurthom: Ironkeeper as of 836 PD. Drove a trade deal to supply stone for post- Chroma Crisis reconstruction.
  • Blenton Zuurthom: A noble and architectural savant.
• House Thunderbrand
  • Steddos Thunderbrand: Master arcanist and head of House Thunderbrand.
  • Drake Thunderbrand: Member of the Arcana Pansophical and ambassador on the Tal'Dorei Council.
  • Wyrmhide Thunderbrand: Commander of a pyromancer brigade.
• House Glorendar
  • Wallera Glorendar: Former combat trainer of the Carvers.
  • Kazya Glorendar: As of 836 PD, publicly manages her mother Wallera's affairs, including oversight of combat training of the Carvers.
• House Bronzegrip
  • Haddi Bronzegrip: Foredwarf of the Bronzegrip Metalworks.
