Whitestone Rifle Corps

The Whitestone Rifle Corps are an elite Whitestone military unit founded by Lord Percival de Rolo. Unlike the Paleguard, the guardsmen of Whitestone who answer to the Chamber of Whitestone, the Whitestone Rifle Corps are royal guardsmen that are assigned specifically to protect Whitestone Castle and the de Rolo family. Members are trained in the use of a musket or a pistol as their primary weapon with the restriction of only wielding them while patrolling the city walls or castle battlements, excluding emergency scenarios or precedents permitted by the Chamber of Whitestone.

Though Percy was initially opposed to the notion of mass producing his firearms inventions, after his battle with (and death by) Dr. Anna Ripley, he realized that it was inevitable that others would develop his guns and use them to their advantage. Realizing Whitestone needed to take advantage of such technology before it became widespread, Percy distributed Ripley's rifles to (as well as constructed new firearms for) these new Riflemen. ^{[citation needed]} Originally, the corps was a company of roughly a dozen musketeers, including both men and women. By 843 PD the Corps had grown to at least 50 riflemen. Their uniform consists of dark-stained leathers with shoulder cloaks and leather hats with one side pinned up.

The Rifle Corps has a special undercover unit reporting directly to the de Rolo family, called the Whitestone Hunters. These soldiers loyally serve as spies, bodyguards, and even assassins if necessary.
