Truscan family

The Truscans, also known as House Truscan, are a noble family of the Dwendalian Empire.

History

The Truscans were longtime allies of the Dwendalian bloodline, supporting them politically and militarily. The family was rewarded during the reign of Willamar Dwendal, who granted them oversight of the Truscan Vale, establishing their prominence as a powerful noble house.

The Truscan family was established in Deastok for generations, making the city surprisingly affluent. Even though the area had its own starosta, at some point the Truscans started taking control through marriages, debts and assignments made by the Prime Arbiter, Lord Sydnock Truscan. By this same method, Lord Truscan unsuccessfully attempted to marry his daughter and heir, Lydia to Taryon Darrington, an agreement that would have solved the Darringtons' economic problems and would have ensured their loyalty to the Truscan family. However, this marriage never took place, and as the years passed, Lydia and her father grew apart, since she disagreed with his ruthless methods as Prime Arbiter. As of 836 PD, she lives in Zadash as an advocate for civilian rights.

The background for the adventure Merry Spouses of Deastok in the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, set in 835 PD, notes that incubi and succubi had married into the Truscan family over the previous decade.
