Cowin Gemallan

When the Great Lords had cast the rods to choose their King, only two separated him from Akir and he never forgot that he could have been the King instead of Akir.

History

When the Great Lords had cast the rods to choose their King, only two separated him from Akir and he never forgot that he could have been the King instead of Akir.

Breyan, wife of Lain Mandragoran was also deeply envious of al'Akir. She dared the King's brother to ride far behind the Blight, deep into the Blasted Lands maybe even into Shayol Ghul where he died. Breyan blamed al'Akir for her husband's death and as revenge, she plotted with Fairheart to seize the Seven Towers and have the throne for her son, Isam.

Fairheart moved the soldiers back from the Borderland, leaving only bare garrisons. As a consequence Trollocs poured into Malkier like a flood. People of Malkieri was so broken by the death of Lain that they could not defend their land against the Shadow and were pushed back into the heartland.

After his treachery was revealed, Fairheart was captured by the young Jain Charin, who was already called Farstrider by then. The Great Lords wanted to have Geamallan beheaded, but al'Akir faced him in a single combat instead, and slew him. It is said that al'Akir wept when he killed Cowin. Some say he wept for a friend who had given himself to the Shadow, and some say for Malkier. But the first peal of the doom of the Seven Towers had already been struck.

Family

He had a sister called Edeyn ti Gemallen Arrel who was Lan Mandragoran's carneira.
