Appearance

Their names are never given, however they are both completely white haired; one has dark brown eyes, the other "sharp blue". Both ride in palanquins rather than walk any distance due to their frailty. At least one wears a blanket over her lap even in the heat of the Three-fold land. Her voice is a whisper, but strong (possibly aided by the Power, or the weight of prophecy).

Mandein thinks they are the oldest people he has ever seen, with "ageless" skin so thin the wind might tear it.

History

The ancient Aes Sedai of Rhuidean only appear once; during Rand's visions in the glass columns. In his first vision they are brought out of Rhuidean by two dozen Jenn Aiel, plus eight bearers apiece for their palanquins. They barely speak during the encounter as Dermon, Mordaine, and Narisse explain why the Aiel must come learn their true history, or be destroyed. The one with dark eyes speaks part of the Prophecy of Rhuidean though, when Charendin questions the instructions:

The stone that never falls will fall to announce his coming. Of the blood, but not raised by the blood, he will come from Rhuidean at dawn, and tie you together with bonds you cannot break. He will take you back, and he will destroy you.

It is assumed that she or her companion are responsible for the prophecy in the first place, though there were at least four Aes Sedai with the Jenn at the time of Rhodric (in the second vision) so it is not certain.

Trivia

  • In interviews, Robert Jordan confirmed that neither of the two are Deindre, the Aes Sedai with the Foretelling that Jonai saw when the Da'shain Aiel left Paaran Disen with their original quest. She could in theory have been one of the two who died along the way, though there is not a continuous group of Aes Sedai who accompany the Aiel and the newcomers (in Rhodric's time) are never named nor described.
