According to the poem The Trees of Kortirion, the river is described as flowing westward from Kôrtirion, passing through meadows before reaching the sea. The River Gliding is surrounded by elms and is part of the idyllic landscape of Tol Eressëa.
Possible inspiration
The River Gliding might have been inspired by the River Avon, which flows through the town of Warwick, which was the main inspiration behind Kortirion.
