Ferry Lane was a short road located at the edge of the Marish‎‎ in the Eastfarthing of the Shire.

History

It was at this entrance that Farmer Maggot's wagon (carrying Frodo, Sam, and Pippin) met up with Merry. Then Frodo and his companions made their farewells to Mr. Maggot. After crossing the river, the hobbits could see a black figure that had followed them across the lane to the ferry landing.

Geography

It led from the Causeway to the Bucklebury Ferry, that crossed the Brandywine River into Buckland. At its entrance, there were two tall white posts, and the lane itself was straight, well-kept, and edged with large, white-washed stones. It ended at a broad wooden landing-stage on a river-bank.
