Description
As of 807 PD, Shade Hall is a building of rough stone with wood-framed windows, within which is a maze of bright and colorful hallways. The guarded front entrance is a set of large doors leading into a foyer that spreads out into the great hall—a meeting place for the Shadewatch's commanders, and presumably Jorenn's council of elders before them—and several hallways that hold the Shadewatch's working quarters. Past some doors leading to the great hall is a dark hallway leading to a locked, sparsely decorated antechamber with tall windows. Near the main entrance are large rooms and offices used for Shadewatch meetings and for conducting town business.
Carmine-and-silver drapes run along the staircase to the second floor.
Shademaster Derowen's office, on the second floor, had a tall wooden door with a simple lock, a fireplace, tall windows behind a cluttered but beautifully made desk with redwood and silver ornamentation and some locked drawers, and a table and chairs for discussion. There was a panel in the office with a portrait of the Shademaster's daughter Aswin, behind which was a hidden compartment that could be opened with levers hidden inside the desk. Adjacent to the office was a narrow meeting room with keyed locks on its windows, and the Shademaster had a sitting room with books and old maps. Also on the second floor is a meeting room with double doors leading out onto a balcony overlooking the town square.
Far from the main entrance is the Shademaster's personal wing, where the rooms and halls are decorated for comfort, including thick carpets, rich curtains, and paintings of various Tal'Dorei landscapes like the Lucidian Coast and the Frostweald; this wing has guest rooms on the third floor. One of these guest bedrooms had a nightstand, cabinets, and a dressing table. There are also kitchens. Also on this third-floor wing was a practically decorated hallway with offices for records and for the quartermaster and sergeant-at-arms, all marked with brass plates, and six unmarked rooms. Three were dusty rooms with only tables and chairs, though one also had boxes filled with Shadewatch uniforms. One of the other, locked unmarked rooms was Culwen's work space, which had a desk and a tall curtained window and was filled with clutter: various gemstones, figurines, coins, weapons (with whetstones, oil, and cloth for the blades), books, notebooks, and more.
The back of Shade Hall, from which the Shademaster's office and meeting room look out, leads out onto a square and a long road with old buildings on it, including The Scattered Bar.
