The islands are unexpectedly tall; the shoreline has no beaches, only cliffs that are bountiful with fruits and hunting game. The local waters are choppy due to the Mother's Sigh Reef, which stretch 200 miles from their eastern shore to the shoreline of the continental coast. This makes traveling to the island dangerous, limiting who can make the journey.
There are stories that a couatl spirit is bound to the center of the jungle on the island and those who bring an acceptably large offering may receive wisdom and insight.
