Environment

Eremis Stone says of Blightshore, "Creatures that come from there don't come in their... normal state. It's a place of twisted things." He says the Circle of Beasts draws some creatures from far-away Blightshore, and his theory is that the gorgon they faced was one such creature.

Blightshore's environment is marked by strange arcane curses that are relics of the Calamity, and the land reflects this. There are small floating islands of land, ever-burning forests, gravitational anomalies, and poisonous colonies of fungus throughout the region. Even the weather is strange, with winds that carry constant lightning, maddening mists, corrosive rain, and intermittent breaks into the Ethereal Plane.

Society

Much of Blightshore has been abandoned, but there are fragmented settlements. The Ebonglass Massif is home to a kobold clan known as Fangs of the Worm, who worship an ancient artifact from Eiselcross that, unbeknown to them, holds a tissue sample of Quajath. Meanwhile, refugees and outlaws from Xhorhas often find their way to the ruins of Ghor Veles, though the population is transient.

There are two permanent settlements in Blightshore: One is New Haxon, an outpost of the Dwendalian Empire run by the Cerberus Assembly, which is also the home to many survivors of the fall of Draconia. The second is Rotthold, a diverse if somewhat anarchic city along the coast.

One notable quality of Blightshore society is the minority population of Hollow Ones, people resurrected by the lingering magic of Blightshore, but without their full soul.

Blight ichor is an illegal liqueur brewed from a fungus native to Blightshore.

History

At least one Luxon beacon was found 700 years ago near the base of the Penumbra Range on the Blightshore side.

Xagonstar
Xagonstar was an ancient dwarven citadel that was destroyed and buried during the Calamity. It was located in the mountains of what is now the Ebonglass Massif in Blightshore.

Olc Skerry
It is unknown why the village of Olc Skerry is empty; while many blame a massacre of the people or deadly illness, some say the people of Olc Skerry left their village long ago for the mainland of the peninsula of Far Hharom.

Miskath Pit
The Miskath Pit is an endlessly deep sinkhole with an oblong opening. The subterranean expanse is psychedelic and bizarre, with lights, sights, and sounds appearing randomly.

Rotthold
Rotthold is a commercial center of Eastern Wynandir, if primarily for commerce of the illegal variety. The often dilapidated structures of the city are mostly stone and wood, and all are covered in a glowing red moss that lights the streets by night.

Sariss
At some point before 835 PD, yuan-ti started living in the ruins of this city. These serpentkin were slightly different to others of their kind, for they had wings, and considered themselves the chosen of Zehir.

Ebonglass Massif
The Ebonglass Massif divides Blightshore into three regions: Far Hharom to the north, the Tooth of Zehir to the east, and the largest section of the strand to the south. The mountains themselves are made of obsidian, suggesting volcanic activity formed the range.

New Haxon
Run and defended by an alliance of the Cerberus Assembly and mercenaries from former Draconia, New Haxon is the only Dwendalian outpost along Blightshore and the starting point for Empire expeditions in that region.

Cauldron Sea
The Cauldron Sea is composed of dark, brackish water in a constant state of stormy turmoil. Within the depths of the sea live aquatic monsters, and the area is rumored to contain the ruins of a sunken city and a ship graveyard.

Far Hharom is mostly a desolate, windy moorland in the northernmost part of Blightshore.

Incanter's Rest
The Rest is a mostly empty, windswept plain, a graveyard to the countless people who fell during battle. It is littered with rusted armor and weapons; the only significant landmarks are the skeletons of three titans.

The Tooth of Zehir can be split into three sub-regions: Strathfell; the southern beaches; and the Mordant Isle, the last of which is physically separate from the peninsula, but treated as part of the same region.
